so i got up at 9 this morning to meet lisa to go for another walk around the neighborhood. we were in search of a good place to go running since villa torlonia is so small and for some reason under construction. she calls me at 10 (our meeting time) and im flippin out cause i cant seem to find my keys. i know i used them last night when i got back from Barberini. problem was, i was so exhausted when i got back that i literally came in, put my stuff down, and took a nap. i was so worried that i had left the keys in the door that i texted jesse to see if maybe she accidentally grabbed my keys but then decided to go for the walk anyway and just ring the doorbell when i got back.
so lisa and i ventured up the hill towards villa ada. we encountered one of the main most beautiful traffic circles of nomentana. here are some pictures of the buildings surrounding the circle.
the buildings surrounding this traffic circle are so beautiful in their own way. and definitely well maintained.
so we get to villa ada and start walking around inside to see whats there. It's such a pretty estate. They have all kinds of cyprus trees and different kinds of vegetation. This picture shows the landscape you first see when you walk in. Lisa mentioned that it feels like we stepped into the african safari.
im guessing this is one of the summer residences of the probly ridonc rich ada family. walking around the villa, you see that there are so many abandoned buildings...it was actually kinda creepy. it's now a HUGE park and this building is still in use.
so here's a picture of Lisa with the abandoned buildings. also really pretty summer houses but quite creepy since theyre abandoned, tagged, and all have broken windows.
Along the way, we ran into this pretty landscape. the park is so big that sometimes you walk around and don't see any people for at least a few minutes. this picture is me with the abandoned path of cyprus trees.
Here's a picture of me on the main path. the landscape is just so beautiful and to think this isn't even one of their main parks...
so then i came back and waited for my roommate to see if maybe she had my keys. before jesse got home, lisa and i turned the room upside down, looked in every bag under every bed and desk and in the closets and couldnt find my keys. so then jesse gets home and she and i are looking for like one minute when i decide to move my mattress to see if its on there somewhere and i hear the keys moving. it was on my bed stand the whole time under my mattress. i was so frustrated but at the same time was so glad that i finally found my keys.
ok well it's been raining for a few hours here and it got really cold so reba and i decided not to meet for dinner. i guess i'll just have to see reba next week. ok, time to read the new yorker and plan my trip to madrid.
