the weather for the last few days has been absolutely awful. weve had rain on and off since friday so it was hard to go out (even for a walk) and i spent a large part of the last few days at home, without internet, reading the economist or new york magazine and seeing either just jessie or a combination of jessie, gretchen, valentina, and lisa.
today, however was completely different. i had italian class at 11 which was really really boring but my other 2 classes aren't set to start til next monday so collin, lisa, and me headed out to stazione termini and had korean food for lunch. i, of course, had jap che which wasnt quite as good as k town but definitely such an amazing change from the usual italian food ive been eating and cooking for myself. it was definitely quite refreshing to have some other kind of food even if it wasn't the best ive had. so lisa headed back to campus for class while collin and i stuck around termini and got gelato and sat outside the station just to watch all the tourists get on and off the buses and just enjoy the completely different kind of people watching we've enjoyed. we had a total heart to heart catching up since i havent seen collin for like two weeks and then headed back to nomentana. we head over to the IES office to book stuff and research stuff since my internet has been sort of shotty (knock on wood). so we've officially booked dublin for the weekend of my birthday! im so excited...we leave rome at 10 am on my birthday (friday the 24th) and we get there around noon, dublin time. we're gonna check into our hostel and then walk around dublin for a few hours and perhaps just enjoy some excellent irish beer and pubs. saturday we decided we're gonna do some more site seeing and then, at the least, hit the guiness factory to see where they make excellent beer as well as where the student t distribution was formed. saturday night, of course, is reserved for dinner with a france and k rod who will be in ireland for their 3 year anniversary. im so excited to see them! and then sunday, we leave dublin around noon to head back to rome. it was a lil on the pricey side to book a flight to ireland, but i figured i really wanna go to dublin and on top of that its my birthday so its ok to splurge a lil. plus, collin is totally willing to travel with me wherever so its gonna be totally fun.
so we were supposed to go to florence this weekend but things got crazy and of course plans changed at the last minute. around 1 pm on tuesday, our plans for this coming friday changed. sara called me up on the way to termini to tell me since florence didnt quite work out how did i feel about going to capri. of course i was like YES, which was the same reaction as lisa and collin. so we booked a hostel in sorrento (where collin and i will share a tent for one night) and will be doing a bit of sightseeing and then head to capri for a nice beach day for the other day. emilys gonna be there too! which means lots and lots of fun to say the least.
ok well thats about it for today. its been sort of a long day and i cant wait to get to bed. ill blog again probably after this weekend :-)
